[NEWS] TVXQ makes history in Oricon with ‘Android’


The duo of TVXQ continues to write another new record in Oricon’s history.

According to Japan’s Oricon, TVXQ’s new single ‘Android’ not only topped the Oricon Daily Single chart on the day of its release, but also claimed this week’s top spot on the Oricon Weekly Singles chart. ‘Android’ was released on July 11th, and cemented on the top spot of the Daily Singles chart for six consecutive days.

With this achievement, TVXQ set another record of 11th time topping the Oricon Weekly chart. The duo’s previous single ‘Still’ had also placed first on the chart, making them the first international artist in 45 years to top the weekly singles chart 10 times. ‘Android’ has extended TVXQ’s record.

In addition, TVXQ’s new single sold 152,000 units in its first week, making them the overseas artist with the most singles sold in Japan with a total of 3.1 million units sold. The duo broke the record of Carpenters who sold 3,002,000 units.
