YG Entertainment to open a branch in China

Following the global success of Psy as well as the success of Big Bang’s first world tour last year, YG Entertainment is looking to expand internationally, trusting that China will be the next big market for K-pop.

YG Entertainment stated, “We plan to put more resources and invest more into the Greater China market, which we believe will be the next big market next to Japan. We are currently cooperating with our partners to create a company within the year, in either Beijing or Shanghai.”

The agency predicts that it is still difficult for a record label to turn a profit in the current music scene so they plan to focus on promoting YG artists within the Chinese music market through concerts and other events.
