Top Producer 'Shinsadong Tiger' revealed the back story behind “Roly Poly”

Top Producer 'Shinsadong Tiger' revealed the back story behind “Roly Poly” on the November 20th episode of ‘Strong Heart‘.

He explained, “After I got the initial request for making the song, I traveled to Japan. However, I spent too much time there and I ran into a problem with the production schedule. When I came back to Korea, T-ara‘s CEO said to me, ‘This is very difficult for us if you’re this late’. Although I didn’t even start anything for the song, I told him that I was finished.”

In the end, Shinsadong Tiger had to drive straight to T-ara’s label without any concrete material. He revealed, “I went straight there from the Gimpo Airport. I was sitting in the middle of the meeting room with everyone around, and started to say, ‘The title of the song is…’ but I hadn’t written anything down yet. Thinking quickly, I knew that the CEO really enjoys snacks and the name of the snack on the table in the meeting room was called ‘Roly Poly’.”

On the famous “Roly Poly” dance, he added, “Much like Boom, I often MC’ed various events. I showed them a dance that I used to dance on the spot during events, and they really liked it. That’s how the “Roly Poly” dance was born.“
