Q: Please greet our Bugs family members.
A: Bugs family members! Hello, the start is Secret!
Hyosung: Secret has come back with ‘Poison’ after a year and we’re now greeting you after a really long time. I really missed promoting in Korea. We’re also very nervous and happy to be able to meet you all with a new concept.
Q: It’s a comeback after one whole year, what have you been doing during that time?
A: Sunhwa: We’ve been busy with generally doing a lot of overseas promotions and also doing a small amount of promotions in Korea. I didn’t know one year would go by so fast. Since it’s an album that we’ve prepared for during this long absence period, we want to show many good stages with ‘Poison’.
Q: Please introduce your third mini album, ‘Poison’.
A: Jieun: This album’s name is ‘Poison’ along with the title song’s name being ‘Poison’ as well. ‘Poison’ means poison (T/N: she was explaining what it meant in Korean). It’s a song that expresses having your heart stolen by a man who has charms that you can’t escape from even if you know it’s poisonous. If we’ve only showed a younger sister image up until now, we really wanted to show that we’ve become true women.

Q: How are the other tracks?
A: Hyosung: There are 5 songs in total, and most of them express falling in love. This is also a more meaningful album because Zinger participated in writing lyrics for three of the songs! The first song is ‘Telepathy’, which has an acoustic style and is about a lovely story between lovers. Our title song, ‘Poison’, is by the composers Kim Kibum and Kang Jiwon, who have written Secret’s past hit songs. From start to finish, the repeated saxophone sound has an addictive quality.
Jieun: Our third song, ‘Falling in Love’, is a perfect song to listen to during days with fall weather like this. IT’s a song by the composer, Park Sooseok, but Zinger also participated in writing the lyrics. The fourth song was written by the composers, Marco and Jeon Dahwoon, and Zinger wrote the lyrics with them. The title is ‘Calling U’ and it’s a funky song that mixes a hip-hop rhythm with Latin styles and it subtly explains the risky feelings between a male and a female. The last song is ‘1, 2, 3’, but it was written by a foreign composer who has recently been garnering the highest amount of attention. As much as it is a foreign song, its different feelings are very strong. It’s a song that sends a warning and a love message to a guy, and Zinger participated in writing lyrics for this song as well.
Q: For this jacket cover, the members individually released their pictures over a period of 4 days, causing it to be a hot topic. What is the concept for these jacket pictures? Please introduce the style as well.
Zinger: When you look at our jacket photos, we wanted to express a British modern lady look from the past through the red colors. Our stylist had past accessories specially flown in. I think we filmed it cheerfully because it was a new concept and it fit well with the image that we wanted to do.
Q: The story of the music video leaves a deep impression, but were there any episodes while filming it?
Hyosung: I like this the most among all of Secret’s music videos. We took the motif from the recently popular movie, ‘Robbers (도둑들)’ and we transformed into female robbers. It’s a story where we seduce the man in order to steal jewels, but I only just realized that acting was this hard. (Laughter)
Sunhwa: It was really fun filming the music video. If our past songs ‘Shy Boy’, ‘Starlight Moonlight’, and ‘Love is Move’ were considered to be bright and cheerful songs that you could listen to during the day, then I think ‘Poison’ is a song that you can listen to at night.
Jieun: Filming this all night is what I remember the most. After filming this for 3 days straight, we had to go immediately overseas because we had another schedule. Although it was really tiring, I enjoyed filming it.
Q: When talking about Secret, you cannot leave out the powerful choreography, so what’s the best charming point for this choreography?
A: Zinger: This choreography consumes the most calories among Secret’s choreographies. Although we used a lot of strength for songs like ‘Magic’, ‘Madonna’, and ‘Love is Move’, it’s gradually getting fiercer. The charming point of the choreography for ‘Poison’ is that you can lose weight without separately going on a diet! For those who want to go on a diet, imitate our choreography. Haha!
Q: What are fans to Secret?
A: Sunhwa: Our fanclub’s name is ‘Secret Time’, but while we were on break, I missed Secret Times the most! Since our debut, Secret Times have been our reassuring pillars and our energizers! I’m always thankful and since this is a performance after a long time, let’s enjoy it two times, three times more!
Q: Plans for overseas promotions?
A: Jieun: We have been promoting in Japan a lot, but since it’s also planned for an album to be released in China soon, we recently opened a Chinese ‘Weibo’. I hope that they will love Secret a lot in China as well. However, I think that our main focus for the rest of the year will be promotions in Korea.
Q: We’re curious about your upcoming promotion plans.
A: Zinger: We plan to find you all very, very often through ‘Poison’ on music broadcast programs as well as variety show programs. Sunhwa is coming out as a new bride on ‘We Got Married’ and it’s really fun. Please anticipate it!
