Kim Bum to star in Tsui Hark’s new movie


Actor Kim Bum has been cast to play the main role in Hong Kong’s famed director Tsui Hark’s new film.

On August 16th, Kim Bum’s agency, King Kong Entertainment announced that the actor was cast in the film “Detective Dee Prequel” (working title), a new film co-directed by Hark Tsui and White Brothers.

Kim Bum has been growing immensely popular in China through KBS 2TV’s drama series “Boys Over Flower”, and he became the first Korean actor to cast in Hark Tsui’s film.

Tsui Hark has been acknowledged as a talented director in Asia, including Hong Kong, and many international film festivals. He was a member of the judging panel for the Cannes Film Festival in 2004, and he has made such popular films like “A Chinese Ghost Story Series”, “Once Upon A Time In China Series” and “Swordsman”.

Kim Bum remarked, “I have always looked up to director Hark, since I have grown watching his heroic action pics. It feels great to be given this opportunity to work with him, and I’ll do my best to contribute to this film.”
