[NEWS] SBS ‘Inkigayo’ to remove Take 7 and Mutizen Song Award

SBS’ weekly music program, ‘Inkigayo’ will reformat the show and eliminate its ranking system.

Beginning on July 15th, Inkigayo decided to get rid of Take 7, where the seven of the most popular artists from that week are featured, and the Mutizen Song award.

Chief producer of the show stated, Instead of ranking system, the most important thing is the genre K-Pop being recognized worldwide. This decision has been decided with many discussions. We don’t see any particular meaning towards the rankings. We have decided to undergo this change in hopes that viewers can just enjoy the music.”

The producer also added that more special stages and variety of collaboration stages are being planned.

MBC ‘Music Core’ had ditched ranking system a long time ago while SBS ‘Inkigayo’ and KBS ‘Music Bank’ stuck to the old format. Now with ‘Inkigayo’ leaving the ranking system behind, ‘Music Bank’ will be the only music show with a weekly ranking system.
