It has been reported that 2NE1 Minzy’s 81-year old grandmother, Gong Okjin passed away on the morning of July 9th due to a chronic illness.
Gong Okjin has been fighting against the aftermath of a sudden stroke in 1998. Unfortunately, she suffered yet another stroke in 2004 and was involved in a car accident in 2007, resulting in her health declining.
2NE1 Minzy’s grandmother, Gong Okjin, is one of Korea’s most legendary traditional dancers. She rose to fame for her traditional singing and Korean folk dance, and was highly known for creating “the danced of the handicapped” and “animal imitation dance.”
Minzy has headed down to her hometown with her family to attend her grandmother’s funeral while 2NE1’s schedule will be undergoing changes.
