[NEWS] 2PM, 2NE1 & After School win on MTV VMAJ 2012
Together with Girls’ Generation who won the ‘Best Album of the Year’ award for their first Japanese album ‘Girls’ Generation’, K-Pop groups 2PM, 2NE1 and After School also took home awards from the recent MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012 (MTV VMAJ 2012).
MTV Video Music Awards Japan 2012 was held on June 23 in Japan at Chiba’s Makuhari Messe, and awarded singers in a total of 16 categories, including Best Video, Best New Artist Video and Best Group Video. Among these are Girls’ Generation, 2PM, 2NE1 and After School.
2PM has won the ‘Best Group Video’ category for their “I’m Your Man” music video, beating other international nominees including Coldplay’s “Paradise“, Ikimonogakari’s “Itsudatte Bokura Wa“, Maroon 5’s “Moves Like Jagger” featuring Christina Aguilera, and Monkey Majik’s “Hero“.
2NE1 has won the ‘Best New Artist Video’ category for their “I AM THE BEST” music video against LMFAO’s “Party Rock Anthem”, CNBLUE’s “In My Head”, JAMES BLAKE’s “Limit to Your Love” and Kyary Pamyu Pamyu’s “Tsukema Tsukeru”.
Lastly, After School, who has collaborated with Japanese Amuro Namie for their track “Make It Happen”, has won in the ‘Best Collaboration Video’ category. They beat out Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Otis”, Maroon 5 & Christina Aguilera’s “Moves Like Jagger”, Special Others & KJ’s “Sailin”, and Miliyah, Shota, and Atsushi’s “Believe”.
