[NEWS] New Sound's 32 Weekly Chart: Independent Music Counterattack EXO-M or become boygroup's model!

EXO-M has remained in the top position of the sharing, judging, and integrated rankings of the Sohu New Sound Charts. These two groups, Qu Wanting and EXO-M, are faces that we are familiar with, and no further explanation is required. However, looking at the five songs placed in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th and 7th positions on the chart, they are from indie artists like Qu Wanting, Mo Yanlin, Hey!!!, ELENORE and Wanju Chuanzhang (Toy Captain). Indie music and mainstream music are no longer mutually exclusive entities, but reinforce and complement each other instead. Regardless whether they are indie artists or mainstream musicians, artists such as Xu Wei, Zheng Jun, Guowei VC, Fan Xiaoxuan, Xie Anqi, and Joss Stone have performed together on stage in the same music festival during last week's Beijing Yuegu Music Festival. So why is there a need to draw a distinct boundary between (different types of) music? If the music is interesting and fun, then the fans would be willing to accept and disseminate them.

EXO-M is truly unbeatable when we speak about "standing out" or "outshining others", having entered the chart five weeks ago and still going strong this week -- this is despite the fact that they have only made their debut for a short period of a couple of months. Personally, I have analysed EXO-M’s powerful and well-targeted packaging, planning and marketing methods. They are a truly valuable source of reference for Chinese (artist) management companies who intend to package idol groups but have no ideas on how they should go about it. We can safely say that Qu Wanting and EXO-M will become this year’s hottest topics and the most successful examples of artists who have gained the acceptance of the general public. The only dispiriting thing is that whenever there is an outstanding idol group on the rise, they would always be Japanese or Korean groups which are products of meticulous marketing. We would, however, rarely see the appearance of such distinguished groups in China, which has a larger amount of handsome men.
