[NEWS] Lee Hyori donates profits from her essay book
Singer Lee Hyori has donated the entire proceeds of her first essay book “Closer” to an animal protection organization called, “KARA” (Korea Animal Rights Advocates).
On May 24th, Lee Hyori released a book titled “Closer: The Story of Hyori and Soon Shim.” In just 5 days since publication, the essay book has already gone into three printing processes. The book contains episodes of the everyday lives of Lee Hyori’s pet dog Soon Shim and four companion dogs.
The book also features Lee Hyori’s histories of actively involving in a campaign for animal rights which were all written by Lee Hyori herself in her own special and honest way. It includes photos taken by the singer and photographer Kim Tae Eun, known as an animal lover as well.
In the book, Lee Hyori wrote, “Animals are beings that are even weaker than humans. They are beings that can’t protect themselves and they can’t even receive protection. They need people to act on their behalf. Those are the things that have moved me, the reason why I’ve decided to choose the path I’ve taken. I’m happy with my life now. I want to be happy with more people.”
